Konkan Kaleidoscope is our signature birding exploration. During monsoon, Konkan transcends beautifully. We always say, Konkan being part of the Western Ghats, there is no specific birding season, yet monsoon brings out some of the exotic avian colors which in turn is a treat for many amateur bird photographers.

The star attraction of Monsoon Konkan Kaleidoscope is ODKF aka The Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher. The Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher is also known as the Black-backed Kingfisher or Three-toed Kingfisher. The small-sized star comes 14 cm in size, fondly known as the ‘Jewel of the forest.’ We claim that it’s not a star attraction that takes us out there, but the list of star birds is huge...

Along with the ODKF, the trip also promises sightings of the Blue-eared kingfisher, Indian Pitta, Rufous woodpecker, Vigor’s sunbird, Asian paradise flycatcher, Black-capped monarch, Crested hawk eagle, Emerald dove, Yellow-footed green pigeon, and pompadour Green pigeon.

The Nemophilist’s experience, exploration, and explanation of such regional diversity goes far deeper than appearance, it narrates the beauty of culture, food traditions, and local cuisine for which Konkan is famous but each village has its tradition and identity; so inviting you to explore culture, traditions woven beautifully with birding-photography.
